Emily started a business when she was 19 — “I couldn’t handle the idea of working for someone else! I never thought I’d be an entrepreneur though, I was quite shy.” She says.

“I’ve only ever had one full time job. I was working in admin and I lasted 4-months. I always loved writing and I knew very young that I wanted to inspire people. I don’t really know why, but I’ve always been fascinated by the world of self help and self development, I’m wired that way to the core.” 

Emily is 33 now and she’s been pursuing this path for more than 15 years. “When you have a business — it’s an obsession and a calling.”

Emily has published 11 books and for the last 7 years, she’s been coaching other authors to write. “I personally believe that while there’s a lot of beauty and magic in life, there are also challenges. But we have to choose what to focus on. At any moment in time, we can tell one of two stories — the amazing one or the crap one. I’m always looking for inspiration. I love travelling, self development and personal growth.”

“When I’m not working, my partner and I jump in his truck and get into the mountains. That always inspires us. We love the mountains. I love long deep conversations. We’re so strange, on a Saturday evening, while other people are out partying, we chat about psychology. The deeper the better!”

Why did you join Verve?

“I clicked on Verve and my heart just opened. It was exactly what I wanted, it’s not a man’s world, it’s a woman’s world. And I love the ethical side of things. You just had me. I felt empowered as a woman. Wealth on a woman is really sexy and I’m now owning that for myself.”

“I had this idea in my head that men are better at managing money and I don’t know where that idea came from. I was always intimidated at the idea of wealth building. I also missed out on 10 years of super because I was self employed. But then I started to understand it’s not a man’s world, it’s anyone’s world.”
“Now I want to feed it, I want to grow it. I like the idea that Verve wants to empower women around money. I think we’re scared because we’re overwhelmed.”

What does a wealthy life look like to you?

“Success for me is probably when I think about what lights me up and the impact I make on people’s lives. Being able to have time, flexibility and freedom.”

“For me it’s ultimately travelling the world and meeting people and writing and sharing that with others. Really speaking and writing and connecting with people all over the world.”

“She’s in a position of leadership and she’s feminine. She has grace and poise and she’s been able to be a woman in a position of leadership and I find that power and influence so inspiring.”

The most powerful thing you can do is to love yourself the way you are.

“I think a lot of people are trying to be someone they’re not and be someone they’re not. The real me is way more than enough. If you don’t follow your intuition, you don’t end up being very fulfilled. I’ve done so much self healing. People need to know who they are and love that — that’s a foundation for everything else.”

I love writing — I always have

“I feel the most connected and inspired when I’m writing. In order for me to write there needs to be an experience before it, a moment of inspiration, an insight or a good conversation with somebody. For me when I’m in that space, when I’m connecting with the beauty of life, that’s when I’m most fulfilled.”
