Pay Gap Pledge
A simple pledge to improve gender equality at your workplace
On February 27, the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) released Gender Pay Gap data for private companies with over 100 employees. This means that, for the first time in Australia’s history, employees are able to look up the Gender Pay Gap at their company and see how they stack up.
Verve Super is calling on businesses to take tangible steps towards equality by signing up for the #PayGapPledge.
The #PayGapPledge means committing to one change that can reduce the pay gap now - such as uplifting your parental leave policy. All the ways workplaces can take the pledge are outlined in the Verve Toolkit.
For business leaders wanting to go the extra mile, the #IWDWalkout is all about companies supporting women and gender diverse employees to walk out of the workplace at 3:14 pm on International Women’s Day (8 March 2024).
The time, 3:14 pm, represents 78% of the way through the day at which women stop being paid for their full day's work.

Based on current data, for every dollar a man makes, women make 78¢ in Australia on average. Over a year, that adds up to $26,393.

The Toolkit sets out the case for change, and provides a list of actionable, tangible steps that companies can take to get to pay equality. It’s important for every company to develop an action plan that is tailored to their organisation and its needs - what works for one company won’t necessarily create change for you.
Gender equality is not just the right thing to do, it’s good business. Take the #PayGapPledge to signal to your employees and the world that you are committed to genuine change. We will provide free content templates to download.
Don’t stop there! Promote your support of women this International Women’s Day by supporting the IWD Walkout. Encourage your women and gender diverse employees to walkout or roll out of the workplace at 3:14pm or 78% of the way through the day to provide a visual representation of the wage disparity.
The Toolkit sets out the case for corporate change, and provides a list of actionable, tangible steps that companies can take to get to pay equality. Download the Toolkit and the accompanying email template to send to your employer.
We will send you information on how your company performs on gender equality when the WGEA data is released. Data is a powerful reminder that we can do better in terms of gender pay equality.
We know every workplace doesn’t prioritise feedback, or even have an accessible leadership or People and Culture team. If you do, that’s great! We’ll send you an email template to get started. If not, you can request we contact your employer via the survey below, and make a case for gender equality, the Pay Gap Pledge and the IWD Walkout (keeping you anonymous).
Encourage your friends and colleagues to do the same - there’s power in numbers.
